Formed at the intersection of passion for cultural heritage and excitement about the potential for new technologies, the ELLIE project will bring together these two assets to enable new technologies to enhance cultural heritage and preserve history.

The ELLIE project is an EU project dedicated to the utilization of new technologies in the cultural heritage sector, and will use both novel technologies and novel innovations of existing technologies to enhance the cultural sector. Cultural heritage institutions and practices play a pivotal role in shaping local and regional culture, while also highlighting important historical moments and inspiring future generations. However, the advent of technologies pushing us towards a more digital and online focused world has sidelined the importance cultural heritage has in our daily lives. In order to revitalize, incentivize and find creative new ways to engage and modernize our experiences with importance pieces of our cultures, we will be utilizing technologies such as AI, VR, AR, and the IoS. While many are likely familiar with artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), the concept of the internet of senses (IoS) is less known in common vernacular. IoS is the utilization of technology to engage as many senses within the human range as we can when interacting with technology. The utilization of these techniques allows us to pull users into the world of a museum's history, an artisan's daily experiences, or a dancer's performance with more than just our eyes and give new depth to user experiences. These experiences and more will be a part of ELLIE's vision and implementation as we make exciting advances in ways to implement technology in new and exciting spaces.
As the ELLIE project starts to take off, we will be keeping you updated with our progress including research findings, technological advancements, collaborations, major events we attend, pilot events we put on showcasing the implementation of our work and more. As we look to enhance the depth of our interaction with historic and modern cultural heritage, and push the boundaries of innovation in this sector, we cannot wait to engage with you whether you are a researcher, artist, or simply curious to know more about the important history and culture around you.
